How to make sambar for Pongal,Idly and Dosa


Ingredients

Thoor dhal-1/2 cup

Small onion-6

Tomato -1 small size

Carrot-1

Brinjal-1(big) or small size(2)

Potato- 1 small size

Green chillies-3

Turmeric powder-a pinch

salt - to taste

Tamarind-little



For Seasoning

Mustard-little

Urad dhal-little

Dry red chilli-3

Cumin seeds-little

Curry leaves-little

oil-2tbsp



Method
Cook the thoor dhal in the pressure cooker for 15 minutes.Cut the vegetables as a round shape and cut the onion,tomato into small pieces.Pressure will be released after 5 more minutes(wait for sometime to release the pressure).Then add the vegetables,onion ,tomato,slitted green chillies and salt into that cooked dhal in the cooker.Pour one cup of water and close the cooker.


After 2 sounds off the stove.Soak the tamarind into half cup of water.Seasoning the required items.Add the tamarind water and seasoned items into the cooked sambar.Switch on the stove and cook for 5minutes.


Its tasty for pongal,Idly and dosa....
